Digital Communication in 2030

Welcome back to our last blog!

There is always new technology that is being developed. Don’t you find it difficult keeping up with technology today???

It’s amazing how dependent we are on technology, especially with communication. Fifteen years ago, we still had clients walking into our office to book their vacations with us. The more common route for people today is either through emails, or phone calls from the comfort of their homes…or from wherever they are at the moment. It seems like everything is at your fingertips and just a few clicks away to get something done.

We have kept up with the times at Intrepid and have up to date technology in order to provide our customers every possible way of connecting with us. There’s a certain reassurance to our customers that they can reach out to us whenever they need us, especially if they are away on their vacation and need our help.

I can’t imagine what digital communication is going to look like 10 years from now! I see people talking with ear buds through their watch, or texting on their watch now. That’s getting more common. I think that in 10 years everyone will have some kind of eyeglass that they can communicate through or a little device that can be attached to a piece of your clothing and then just tap and voice command it, like in Star Trek. Beam me up Scotty!

What do you think technology is going to look like in 2030- 10 years from now?

Have a fantastic day!

Blogging for Charity

Welcome back to another exciting blog!

With the festive season approaching, I want to share with you all something that I am truly passionate about.

A few years ago, I got involved with the local community Food Bank. I approached my manager to do a food drive in our office and she totally agreed that it was a wonderful way to give back to our community. It was very successful in getting everyone at Intrepid to donate what they could for those in need.

Last year I took it a step further. I organized a group of us from our office to actually spend the day at the food bank and help with sorting and packaging the donated food. It was such a wonderful day to come together as a team and as friends to do something meaningful. We learned so much about the process involved in this community program and it really opened our eyes to the tremendous need that exists for those more unfortunate.

This year we plan on doing the same but better! We are also reaching out to friends and family to donate. We’ve posted signs at our office and have a box in which visiting customers can also drop off their donation.

If you would like to learn more about participating or starting your own food drive, reach out to me. I’d love for all of you to spread the word, spread the cheer and help out!

A day in the life of Intrepid Travel Vacations

Welcome back to our blog!

Today I want to talk to you all about what my typical workday consists of at Intrepid Travel Vacations as the office administrative assistant.

Upon arrival into the office, my first priority is coffee!  I’m the first one in the office so my job is making sure that we are always stocked up with coffee and supplies to keep us going through our busy days at a travel agency.

Once I’m settled at my desk with my piping hot coffee, I check the voicemails left by our clients. Prioritizing the return calls and allocating them to the appropriate travel agents makes sure that that the urgent issues or emergencies are dealt with first. Now you may ask, “What can possibly be urgent?”. You’d be surprised at some of the requests we get.  For instance, the biggest issue would be where someone needs to travel out in the next few days, but they just realize they need a Visa to get into a country. I facilitate this process for our clients by providing the correct paperwork and help the client fill out the forms and tell them where to go to submit the form to expedite the process.

The rest of the day is spent answering the phone, replying to emails and assisting the agents with booking client’s vacations, arranging transportation, accommodations, and entertainment for all travellers. We want our clients to have a experience of a life time.

I also reach out to our clients to find out how their vacation went.  It’s important to find out that the arrangements we made for them were beyond satisfactory. This feedback allows us to continue improving our services and making sure that we provide the best in our field.

Stay tuned for our next blog on how Intrepid is involved in charity/community outreach programs.

Thanks for choosing to travel with Intrepid Travel Vacations!

Have a wonderful day!
